Nintendo has revealed new details about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild first DLC pack, The Master Trials.
Scheduled to be released this summer, The Master Trials includes the Trial of the Sword, the game’s new Hard Mode, a Hero’s Path Mode, a Travel Medallion, Korok Mask, and eight pieces of new equipments inspired by previous Zelda characters and games.
Trial of the Sword includes about 45 total rooms in which players from room to room defeating all enemies. Link has no equipment when he enters and completing this challenge will make the Master Sword permanently powered-up and glowing.
Hard Mode has players encountering higher-ranking enemies they wouldn’t normally face during regular play. This mode will feature stronger and more aware enemies that can gradually regenerate their health and appear at higher ranks. There will also be floating platforms in this mode, which include more treasures and opponents if you get up there.
The Hero’s Path Mode “will document every step players take” for the last 200 hours. Players can also slide through a timeline to track footsteps from specific times. This mode also works retroactively.
The Travel Medallion will be located in a new chest somewhere in the game. Once collected, the medallion creates a new fast-travel point where Link is standing, which Link can be transported to at any point.
A variety of new armors are being added including the Majora’s Mask, Midna’s Helmet, Phantom Armor and Tingle’s Outfit. Lastly there is the The Korok Mask. While wearing this mask, it will shake whenever Link is near a hidden any of the 900 Korok locations hiding in Hyrule.
The second DLC is slated to arrive this holiday season. Both packs are only available to buy together in Breath of the Wild’s $19.99 Expansion Pass.
